Calculation assumptions

  • The scale is progressive by years of continuous service: 10 business days after 1 year, 12 after 2, 15 after 3, and 20 after 4 or more years (Labor Code art. 346). These are business days, not calendar days.
  • The base is the average of the ordinary remuneration of the last 6 months ÷ days worked (Labor Code art. 352). This calculator uses the monthly salary you enter as that average.
  • The daily salary is the monthly salary ÷ 30; the Code fixes the base but not this arithmetic, so it is a disclosed convention.
  • The proportional compensation is paid in cash on termination (Labor Code arts. 345, 349) and is computed as tier days × days worked ÷ 365. In proportional mode the accrual is toward the tier of the current year (years + 1).
  • Vacation pay is subject to ISR and IHSS, deductions that are outside the scope of this single-payment calculator.

What this calculator does

Calculates your vacation pay in Honduras with the progressive scale of Labor Code art. 346: 10 business days after 1 year, 12 after 2, 15 after 3, and 20 after 4 or more years of continuous service.

It offers the full period calculation and the proportional share paid on termination.

Who it is for

  • Workers who want to verify their vacation pay.
  • Employers and payroll staff who settle full or proportional vacation.
  • Labor advisors and students who need a clear, traceable calculation.

What information you need

  • Your average monthly salary (of the last 6 months).
  • Your completed continuous years of service.
  • In the proportional case, the days worked in the current year.

How it is calculated

The daily salary is the monthly salary ÷ 30.

Vacation days depend on seniority: 10 after 1 year, 12 after 2, 15 after 3, and 20 after 4 or more years (art. 346).

Full pay is daily salary × tier days; proportional pay is daily salary × (tier days × days worked ÷ 365).

Formula

Daily salary
daily = monthly salary ÷ 30
Full vacation
pay = daily salary × tier days
Proportional vacation
pay = daily salary × (tier days × days worked ÷ 365)

Worked example

You earn L12,000 per month. We compare full vacation with 3 years of service and a proportional case of 182 days in the first year.

  1. Daily salary: L12,000 ÷ 30 = L400.00.
  2. Full (3 years → 15 days): L400 × 15 = L6,000.00.
  3. Proportional (first year, 10-day tier, 182 days worked): L400 × (10 × 182 ÷ 365) = L1,994.52.

With 3 years you receive L6,000.00 of full vacation; in the first year, for 182 days, the proportional share is L1,994.52.

How to interpret the result

The days are business days, not calendar days (art. 346).

In proportional mode the accrual is toward the tier of the current year (years + 1): in the first year it accrues toward 10 days.

The proportional compensation is paid in cash on termination (arts. 345, 349).

Common mistakes

  • Applying a flat 15 days as in Guatemala: in Honduras the scale is progressive (10/12/15/20).
  • Counting vacation days as calendar days: they are business days.
  • Forgetting that vacation pay is subject to ISR and IHSS (outside the scope of this single-payment calculator).

Frequently asked questions

How many vacation days are there in Honduras?

10 business days after 1 year of service, 12 after 2, 15 after 3, and 20 after 4 or more years (Labor Code, art. 346).

How is vacation pay calculated?

The daily salary (monthly ÷ 30) is multiplied by the tier days for your seniority. For the proportional share it is also multiplied by days worked ÷ 365.

Are vacation days business or calendar days?

They are business days, consecutive, per art. 346 of the Labor Code.

What salary base is used for vacation?

The average of the ordinary remuneration of the last 6 months ÷ days worked (art. 352). This calculator uses the monthly salary you enter as that average.

If I am dismissed, is my vacation paid?

Yes. Accrued vacation is paid in cash on termination for any cause, and the proportional share is paid when termination is imputable to the employer or on unjustified dismissal (arts. 345, 349).
