Calculation assumptions

  • 2026 minimum wages per Government Agreement 256-2025, with six rates: three sectors across two economic circumscriptions (CE1 = department of Guatemala, CE2 = rest of the country).
  • From 2026 the country is split into two economic circumscriptions; choose the one that matches the workplace.
  • The Q250 incentive bonus (Decree 78-89) is added on top of the ordinary wage and is not salary: it is excluded from the IGSS base, the aguinaldo, the bono 14, and severance.
  • The amounts are transcribed from consistent secondary sources (the official gazette and several media and firms), since the agreement text could not be obtained directly; verify with MINTRAB before formal use.

What this calculator does

Shows the minimum wage in force in Guatemala for 2026 under Government Agreement 256-2025. From 2026 the country is split into two economic circumscriptions: CE1 (department of Guatemala) and CE2 (rest of the country), each with its own wages by sector.

For the circumscription and sector you choose, it shows the monthly and daily minimum wage, and the total monthly amount adding the Q250 incentive bonus paid on top of the ordinary wage.

Who it is for

  • Workers who want to know the minimum wage that applies to them by region and sector.
  • Employers and payroll staff who set wages and verify the legal minimum.
  • Labor advisors and students who need the up-to-date 2026 rates.

What information you need

  • The economic circumscription: CE1 (department of Guatemala) or CE2 (rest of the country).
  • The sector: non-agricultural, agricultural, or maquila and export.

How it is calculated

The monthly and daily minimum wages are taken directly from the Government Agreement 256-2025 table for the chosen circumscription and sector.

The total monthly with bonus adds the Q250 incentive bonus (Decree 78-89) to the ordinary monthly wage.

The incentive bonus is shown separately because it is not salary: it is not part of the IGSS base, the aguinaldo, the bono 14, or severance.

Formula

Total monthly with bonus
total = monthly minimum wage + Q250

Worked example

A non-agricultural worker in the department of Guatemala (CE1) for 2026.

  1. Monthly minimum wage (CE1, non-agricultural): Q4,002.28.
  2. Daily minimum wage: Q131.58.
  3. Incentive bonus: Q250.00.
  4. Monthly total: Q4,002.28 + Q250.00 = Q4,252.28.

The ordinary monthly minimum wage is Q4,002.28 and, with the incentive bonus, the worker receives Q4,252.28 per month.

How to interpret the result

The ordinary wage (without the Q250) is the base for IGSS, the aguinaldo, the bono 14, and severance; the total with bonus is what the worker receives in cash.

CE1 has higher wages than CE2 in all three sectors, reflecting the higher cost of living in the department of Guatemala.

The increases applied for 2026 were 7.5% (non-agricultural), 5.5% (agricultural), and 4% (maquila/export) in both circumscriptions.

Common mistakes

  • Adding the Q250 incentive bonus to the IGSS, aguinaldo, or bono 14 base: it is not salary and is excluded from those bases.
  • Using the rate of the wrong circumscription or sector; from 2026 there are six different wages.
  • Assuming the minimum is the same across the country: CE1 and CE2 have different amounts.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum wage in Guatemala for 2026?

It depends on the economic circumscription and the sector. For 2026 (Government Agreement 256-2025), in the non-agricultural sector they range from Q3,816.90 per month in CE2 to Q4,002.28 in CE1, plus the Q250 incentive bonus. Select your region and sector to see the exact amount.

What are the CE1 and CE2 economic circumscriptions?

It is the split introduced by Government Agreement 256-2025 for 2026: CE1 is the department of Guatemala and CE2 is the rest of the country. Each has its own minimum wages by sector.

What is the Q250 incentive bonus?

It is a monthly bonus established by Decree 78-89 (amended by Decree 37-2001, which set Q250) paid on top of the ordinary wage to stimulate productivity. It is not salary: it is excluded from the IGSS base, the aguinaldo, the bono 14, and severance.

Does the incentive bonus count toward the aguinaldo or bono 14?

No. As it is not salary, the Q250 incentive bonus is not included in the base of the aguinaldo or the bono 14, which are computed on the ordinary monthly salary.

How many minimum wages are there in 2026?

Six: three sectors (non-agricultural, agricultural, maquila and export) across two economic circumscriptions (CE1 and CE2).

Where do these amounts come from?

From Government Agreement 256-2025. The values are transcribed from consistent secondary sources (the official gazette and several media and advisory firms), since the agreement text could not be obtained directly. Verify with MINTRAB before formal use.

What is the daily minimum wage in Guatemala 2026?

In CE1: Q131.58 (non-agricultural), Q124.64 (agricultural), and Q112.10 (maquila/export). In CE2: Q125.49, Q119.21, and Q105.90. The monthly wage is obtained by multiplying the daily rate by the monthly factor of 30.4166.
